Beware of Birdzilla!

Denali

Last year was not too fun when it came to hunting birdies during the winter. It’s always more challenging in the winter than it is in say the spring or summer. But last year it was especially hard because Birdzilla stayed in the area and Birdzilla doesn’t like to see his friends and family eaten either. He would give me the scariest looks that were like, like the kitty-equivalent of lipofuze. I’d loose my appetite for all things feathery and run to Mommy! Uh, I mean Mom only babies like Isis call their moms “Mommy”. But Birdzilla is scary. I’d rather eat nothing but greens and dry cat food for the rest of my life then mess with him. He’d eat me! I thought it was over, but no, the terror has begun all over again.

Birdzilla is back.

I saw him in the canal and just watched, waiting for him to come and snatch me up like the evil bird he is. Mom saw him and had to take pictures! She made sure not to get too close so not to startle him and make him fly away. Silly Mom, you should have scared him off! It started raining so the humans picked up the barbecue stuff and we went in. I was glad because that mean Birdzilla couldn’t get me today.

Mom says this is a Great Blue Heron and that it’s probably migrating to this place called Bosque del Apache to nest for the winter. Although, she admitted that he could decide to stay in the area too. He’s done that before! Last winter he stuck around here all the time and gave me such nasty looks for hunting birdies. Scarry!

What a neat birdie to see. Nothing like that in my neighborhood!

That is a big bird. I almost didn’t see him cause he’s so blended into the background.
