But no, I was denied. She just stocked up on kitty food and got some more treats for us. In fact, the last time she went to the store I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Nothing new, no real “treat”, no splurge. Is my Mom silly or what?

Mom, it’s not like I was asking you to buy Golden Eagle gold bars or one of those really expensive cat houses that take up the whole backyard and have tons of rooms and tunnels for kitties to play in and doggies cannot get to ‘em what so ever. Although that would be nice. Hint, hint, hint.

But why didn’t she buy anything special for me or even herself? She even won a giftcard for Wal-Mart from the place she donates plasma to. Still hasn’t used it either. Is my Mom sick or all humans like this?

Mom stopped at Petco on her way home from work today and she bought me some new canned cat food to try. I has never had this brand before, but hopefully it tastes yummy! She also bought me some new clothes. I thinks she wanted me to have something for the 4th of July which is what prompted this. Mom knows I’m not big on the clothes, but since she bought it and I already made her sad, I guess I can wear it without a fuss.

Yeah, I was a bad kitty today. I made Mom all mad first then sad. See that bag of treats up there in the picture? Well, I’ve been getting bad about coughing up hairballs lately so Mom must have thought treats that help with hairballs was a win-win situation. Well, she was wrong because those things don’t taste like treats at all – they’re not yummy at all and are actually kinda gross! I refused to eat ‘em and it upset Mom since these ones weren’t cheap at all. She let me have some of my regular treats instead, but I could tells she was still upset over it all.

Mom also says this is mine:

I thought she might be joking, but she’s serious – that’s all for me! I wonders what Mom will buy with it. More of my favorite treats? Maybe some of them Greenies treats which I haven’t had in a while? Ooh, or more canned cat food instead of the bag stuff? Or toys? Oh Mommy, you know how to make a kitty both very happy and feel very guilty at the same time! I must gives lots of purrs to Mom now so she knows I really do appreciate her gifts…even if one wasn’t what we thoughts it might be.

Them mousetraps that Mom bought the other day were snapping like crazy Saturday night. Including the one I mentioned, Mom caught a total of FOUR MICE on Saturday alone.

So not cool. Especially because she only let me have one, the one I blogged about. The others she just disposed of. What a waste of food! The traps were sprung six times, only two got away so Mom’s odds of catching mice is actually better then mine. But I’ve still caught waaaaay more then she has, overtime, so I’m still Top Mouser. Ha!

And to prove to my Mom that I am just as capable as ever of catching mice I caught me one just a little while ago:

I can has treats now please?

Mom has started picking up these treats from the Dollar General regularly for me and they are sooooo yummy-nummy. I am seriously addicted to ‘em. Like maybe the should make a detox program for kitties for them like they does for oxycodone percocet addiction detox, except not because these are good and healthy for kitties.

I am of course talk about Purina’s Whisker Lickin’s Tender Moments. They’re soft and yummy and Mom gets the chicken flavor ones which are sooooo good.

I’ve taken to being an extra good kitty so that I can entice Mom to give ‘em to me more often. I usually get a couple when she comes home. It’s her way of saying sorry for keeping me locked up in teh house alls day.

So I was the uncontested Top Mouser of the house.

At least until Mom bought those mousetraps earlier today.

It was all quiet in the house. I was sleeping on the couch in the living room, Mom was in the bedroom playing with her virtual pet (I has one too!), when all of a suddens we hears a loud SNAP! I didn’t know what made the noise, but it certainly woke me up! Mom though, Mom had a good guess. She went running into the kitchen so fast she was like a blur. By the times I got there Mom was already tearing through the kitchen. It took me a minute, but eventually I realizes that she was checking the mousetraps. Sure enoughs, a trap had been triggered and a nice big mouse had been caught.

Mom was really happy and started doing her crazy victory dance. She then, after making sure the mouse was dead and not still alives, brought the trap to me and dropped the mouse at my feet. Then just stood there looking at me all proud and waiting for praise.

But wait, there’s something familiar about this scene….but not. Instead of the good kitty dutifully bringing her catch to her proud Mommy…my Mom brought her catch to me…

I guess Mom wanted in on the fun of catching mice too? Aww, but isn’t my Mom sweet? She gave me her catch! Well Mom, I will admit your mousetraps are clever, but you’ve got a ways to go before you can share my title of Top Mouser

Mmmm, yummy plump mouse at my feet with no effort. Hehe, htc bell tolls for thee mousey! I forgives you for replacing me with the mousetraps Mom and I am very proud of your mouse-catching skillz too. All in all, I’m counting this as a win for me. I catch mice, I get the thrill of the hunt and the taste of victory. Mom catches mice with her traps, I get a yummy fresh meal with no effort. Win Win Situation for me!

She’s always said I’m an awesome mouser, and whenever I catch one of the mice that can be found in our kitchen, I bring it to her and she’s happy as can be!

But today, when Mom got off from work she stopped at the Dollar General, and for once I was not pleased. See, whenever Mom stops at the D.G. it’s because of three things:

1. There’s something very important that she needs but didn’t have the time to get elsewhere, or she forgot. Like toilet paper.
2. She wants to stock up on snack food that she can take with her to work and eat on her breaks.
3. She’s getting treats for her (ice cream, candy, sweet tea) and me (kitty treats, toys)!

So, needless to say, when Mom walks in with a yellow DG bag I always greet her all happy. But today, today those lovely yellow bags were harbingers of bad news.

Mom has lost all faith in my abilities as a mouser and has resorted to getting mouse traps. As I type this, Mom has set traps in the lower cabinets and locked the doors so I can’t get in. I’m figuring she’s going to put more elsewhere too.

I know the mouse problem has gotten bad Mom; I’ve tried so hard to catch ‘em all! I got two just last week even! This past week I only got one. We can’t even figure out why it’s gotten so bad here lately either. They were gone, and I only managed to find mice outside, but now they’re back inside and there’s a bunch of ‘em.

I think Mom got really really mad with ‘em though whens they got into her ramen. She was not a happy Mommy that day.

Still though, is that any reason to fire me? Now I’ll have to go and catch a bunch of those pesky mice to prove to Mom I’m still a very capable mouser. In the mean time though, I’m just going to go hide behind that big box of riding helmets and old riding clothes in the storage closet and mope. There’s a nice comfy pile of old clothes there with my name on it and right now I just want to hide and cry. I’ve been replaced by mousetraps!

Mom had a biiiiiiiig turkey which was taking a long time to thaw and had to be put in a little early. At first Mom thought she over cooked it when it was done and that it mights be as tough as horse tack, but it was actually very moist and tender. Mom is a much better cook then she gives herself credit for.

The football game was a good one, even if the Cowboys lost. Mom was sad, but she’ll get over it.

Sorry to have put this post up late but Mom and I have been having trouble with our internet the past couple of days. We’ll be online just fine and then WHAM we’re disconnected and can’t get back on.

And no, it’s not the bill either.

I’m hungry now and Mom is still abed. She’s acting like she’s deep asleep (like when she’s taken sleeping pills the night before and is still groggy) but she’s actually wide awake. It’s just kinda cold in the house and Mom don’t wanna get outta the warm blankets.

I don’t blames her, really I don’t. I mean she’s even got me wearing my hooded jacket and I’m not complaining about it.

But see, I’m hungry now and if she don’t get up, well, I’ll just have to feed myself.

Mom don’t like it when I do that because, apparently, opening bags and cupboards in search of food is naughty.

But if Mom don’t get up soon I can nots be held responsible for my actions. I’m growing kitty after all, a growing kitty with a little tummy. I must have food and I must haves it NAO.

Mom came home this afternoon kinda grouchy and made lunch, but I didn’t eat anything she gave me because I was hunting. Another one of those stink bugs made it into the house today and I was carefully tracking him through the living room when I spied something green and moving on the living room curtains:

This is the third time I’ve a praying mantis on our curtains!! I immediately gave up the stink bug for this guy, which Mom didn’t like much ’cause she don’t like me climbing curtains. She eventually knocked him off for me to keep me from climbing. I’ve found all kinds of yummy things to eat on the curtains. From lizards and praying mantis to spiders and moths – it’s a smorgasbord! It’s like a garden or something there, you can always find something healthy and yummy to snack on there. I’m gonna have ta start just doing my…. “green shopping” by checking the curtains every day for something green and yummy to eats.

Yuppers, that’s right, the tote bag came in today! See:

This is their small size and Mom’s laptop barely fits it sideways. So Mom will probably not be carrying her laptop in it, but books yes and other stuffs too. Over all I likes it. The print quality came out pretty good, although I am bummed that the border on the pictures in the logo isn’t checkered like the image Mom submitted,but solid. Guess it was too fine a detail for them to see? But really, for a free bag, this is awesome.

That wasn’t all that came in the mail today! Mom also got a second catalogs from Red Envelope advertising their corporate holiday gift ideas. We’re still not sure how she got on their mailing list. It would make sense if Grandma was getting it, ’cause she gets a lot of magazines and catalogs for businesses and supplies and stuffs, but not Mom. Most of the stuff there is just really out of Mom’s price range to be giving as “business gifts” too. But, it does have pretty stuff and Mom gives it to Grandma so she can get ideas.

The other real gem in the mailbox was a letter from a friend of Mom. The human-woman seems nice, I only met her once briefly ’cause she lives out of town. But anyway, she won a free gift card to Petco from a raffle she entered, and since she no have furry-friends, she gave it to Mom! Mom was happy to get the letter ’cause she hasn’t heard from her friend in a while and it had pictures in it. I was happy with the giftcard – free food!!! I can’t wait ’till Mom goes shopping again.

But today Mom took me! And it was so exciting because she took me with her to Petco, a place I’ve actually always wanted to goes before but never got to. The reason I’ve always wanted ta go with Mom before is ’cause they have treats that they give to the furbabies that come with their Moms and Dads. Today was my first times going and it was very fun and the treats I got were so yummy too.

The trip was almost ruined though by this crazy-nosey human who thought it was her business to tell my Mom what she should and should nots be feeding me. And no, she was not a worker there. She commented on Mom’s food choice (which I like just fines, thank you very much), saying that she should find something more healthy for me that had muscle builder stuff (don’t only dogs have to worry about that anyway?) and how she should put me on a diet. Then she made comments about how MY MOM must not care that much about me if she didn’t even knows better then to buy the brand of food she was buying. That was just not nice. And she called me FAT! Grrr!

Mom thanked her very nicely for her, as Mom said, “unsolicited opinion” – I’m not really sure what that meant, but boy did that human’s face turn a funny color – and then Mom told her that “she would like to return the favor” and Mom advised the human that she “might want to consider avoiding offering her opinions where they are not wanted, lest she find herself on the receiving end of a more physical response”. The rude human turned a little pale and looked like she was gonna say or do something nasty so I let out a little growl at her and she backed up and left me and Mom alone after that.

When we were leaving the store we saw her annoying some other lady who had a little doggy with her. She had pamphlets and was waving them in the woman’s face. I hope the store people stopped her and kicked her out after that.

Mom says she can’t go anywheres without running into weirdos. I thinks she may be right about that after all.
