You see, she had a bunch of coupons to make grocery shopping easier, but she’s run into a bit of a problem. It seems like a lot of stores aren’t accepting or honoring coupons, even if they come from the merchant. Mommy had coupons chips, drinks, breakfast meat stuff, cereal, and a lot of other stuff. They’re all legitimate, even have barcodes so the cashier can run them over their barcode scanner, and come from signing up from online members clubs and stuff. Well, for some reason a lot stores aren’t taking them. Albertson’s grocery store will take some, but mostly just coupons they issue from their ads and stuff.

Wal-Mart seems to be the only place Mommy can get to accept coupons anymore.

Thankfully, the ones she had for canned cat food and some dry cat food were accepted. They’re from Special Kitty and Purina, and the Purina ones aren’t being accepted at Petco, Albertson’s, K-Mart, or Target around here either.

Poor Mommy, she tries to save some money and her efforts are being hampered. Some other humans on Twitter have mentioned having the same problems as well. Are any of your humans running into this?

Isis is very sad. So am I too, but I thinks Isis is taking it worse.

Yeah, Isis is sitting in fronts of the living room window and acting like she ain’t moving till Mom comes back. That’s gonna be a loooong wait ’cause she’ll be gone till Friday.

She’s packing her bag right now as we speak, picking out what she’s gonna wear for tomorrow, and putting her dressy boots in a bag so they can go in her travel bag without dirtying things up.

Mommy really is doing this, she’s leaving us behind and going away on a trip. It’s bad enough Mommy has been grouchy and busy this past week (hence why Denali and I haven’t been able to blog) but now she’s going to up and leave us behind too. Not fair!

Apparently Grandma is attending some seminar for accountants in Albuquerque, NM and since she didn’t want to make the drive up by herself, she’s roped Mommy into going with her.

For the record, Mommy didn’t put up nearly as much resistance to the idea as she should have. I think Mommy likes the idea of getting out of town for a few days.

It’s going to be sad and lonely, cooped up in this house with only Denali for company for a few days. Mommy leaves tomorrow morning and won’t be back until late Friday.

I miss Mommy already.

Denali thinks Mommy’s friends are funny. Here’s a news flash: Mommy’s friends aren’t funny, not in the least.

Since it’s getting pretty warm now, Mommy mentioned that she’d be giving Denali a furcut soon. This way Denali’s long fur doesn’t get all tangled in stuff when she’s outside more in the summer and also to keep her from getting too hot. Even though Denali doesn’t really like the process she always loves the results and is very happy to have her furcut for her. Mommy is thinking of doing it next week or the week after, if the temperature keeps getting warm.

Last year, here’s how much fur Denali got trimmed off:

Mommy gave me a trim once and I hated it. I looked nekid and everyone kept laughing at me when they saw me. Sure some went on to say I still looked like a pretty kitty, but they laughed at me. Well, one of Mommy’s friends, who also seems to think I’m an evil kitty and he always calls me “the attack-cat” suggested Mommy find the kitty-equivalent of www.hairgrowthshampoos.net to make my fur longer so I could get my furs cut too.

I now hate him very, very much. Much more then I used to too. I took great pleasure in sharpening my claws on his leg while he was here earlier.

But, in the end, I think he won this battle because Mommy listened to him. No, she’s not going to try and make my furs longer. Instead Mommy is going to give me a “little trim” along with Denali this year. Mommy seems to think it’ll help my fur to grow back nicer if I get a little trim. That and she’s got this thing about me cleaning too much (she always says I clean too much) so I think she really wants to do this to cut down on my cleaning. No fur to clean equals no cleaning maybe? It’s not like I get a lot of hairballs you know.

When that day comes, I plan on hiding like this:

Mommy says it’ll just be a little trim to keep my fur nice and help it grow back healthy and that I “won’t even be able to tell” ’cause it’s just a little bit going bye-bye. But you know what? I don’t believe her and I don’t want my furcut. Denali needs a furcut, yes, I agree totally. But me, I’m a pretty kitty. I don’t need furcuts!

I’m gonna get my revenge on him when he next visits Mommy. Attack-cat huh? I’ll show you attack-cat Mr-Your-Cats-Are-Evil. Oh yes, revenge will be mine!!!!

Isis’ big sister Misty used to open closed doors. She’d stand up on her back paws and turn the knob with her front paws. The humans always talk about how only a locked door could keep Misty out even to this day. Wonder what he’d do if we learned her trick?

While they were heres Isis was playing with an empty cup ramen box. Mom went shopping teh other night and ‘course she bought more ramen. Well, when she put it up in the cabinet she left the box in the bedroom for me and Isis to play with it. But Isis didn’t share. She been rolling in it and sleeping in it and pouncing it. But she won’t let me have it. Meanie. That’s okay though, Mom left some clothes on the floor that were comfy. Hmph!

Some of Mom’s friends say that Mom is a bad influence on us kitties. Says we’re gonna becomes ramen addicts like her. One human even says Mom is gonna end up needing cholesterol treatment someday ’cause of all the ramen she eats. Dunno about that. Mom eats a lot of ramen ’cause it’s cheap. But she also buys a lot of noodles and makes noodle dishes. Not to mention she eats a lot of grains, like rice, and she makes beans in the crock-pot a lot too. I thinks they just like to tease her. Whatcha think?

Then she got the water gun. It wasn’t so much fun then.

Well, Mommy’s throat still hurts, but she can talk again today and when Denali went outside for a little while Mommy insisted on us going out too. Denali in her black jacket, me in my pink one, and Mommy in…..her sweats and a long sleeve t-shirt. Oh yes Mommy, that was brilliant.

And now Mommy is getting ready and gathering up her things because she wants to go to this cafe that has wireless internet and good tea. Wants to chitty chat with other people on their laptops and netbooks, drink some funny tea, and work on a faster connection. Never mind the fact she has to get out in the wind AT NIGHT and drive up there to do this.

She really doesn’t want to get better, does she?

At least she’s been taking her medicine regularly. But where did this funny weather come from? It’s April now, almost May, it’s supposed to be warm, why is it went and windy again?

Mom decided it was enough to pay a bill and get some groceries, so Mom went shopping. Finally!! We were on rations the last two days, Mom was very strict on how much food and treats we could eat to make sure the foods lasted. Me and Isis were a little worried ’cause the canned cat food was gone and the dry food was almost gone too. We were afraid we’d have to eat Shizuku’s doggy food BUT we gots food now! Mom ended up going to two different stores to take advantage of sales and get the most she could. Oddly enough, both Wal-Marts were out of our normal food so Mom had to get us some dry food from the dollar store to tide us over for the next couple of days, then she’ll go back and get our usual. Of course, Shizuku’s food was in stock so Mom picked up some more for him while she can. Hmph!

But here’s what was funny, at both the Dollar General (a store humans can get things for real cheap) and Wal-Mart (the usual place Mom does the shoppings) the cashiers told her the same thing – You’re cats are eating better then you are!

Here’s what Mom got at WalMart. You can’t see it, but in the plastic bag at the back there are, like, two dozen cans of canned cat food. It’s Fancy Feast and Special Kitty because one was on sale and the other pretty cheap and they’re brands me and Isis like a lot. Teh three stacked boxes are full of Spicy Beef cup ramen and the bag with two boxes in it has more ramen, two boxes with those bags of ramen you cook on the stove. The ramen is really, really cheap at Wal-Mart. Mom says those boxes of ramen, the ones in the plastic bag, have 12 bags of ramen in ‘em and they’re $1.82 each. That’s less than two dollars for twelve meals. That’s how Mom reasons it. The cup ramen is $0.28 each, but she only really likes the spicy beef flavor so when they have it in stock she stocks up on it. I think she took all of the spicy beef the store had. Greedy Mom.

At the Dollar General Mom bought some dry food that me and Isis like and will eat to tide us over till Mom has a chance to check back at Wal-Mart to see if they have our food in. They actually had the food we eat in a small bag, but the small bag was too pricey for Mom to buy when she knows we’ll go through it real fast. She buy’s our food in teh Big Bag which goes into a storage tin to keep me and Isis from getting to it. And buggies too. But mostly me and Isis.

The Friskies cans are for Mr. Stray btw, not us. So technically we’re not eating that. Of course, the cashier at the store didn’t know that though. Mom said she decided to splurge a little and picked up some frozen stuffs for her. Mom’s been pretty much sticking to stuff that don’t spoil (like grains, and beans, and can food) for her, so I’m glad she decided to spoil herself.

Whatcha think? Are we eating better then Mom like the cashiers said? I don’t really think so ’cause Mom has cut back on our treats to make ‘em last, and she’s just kinda cut out the stuff that don’t last from her diet. So I thinks we’re about even. Isis felt bad though hearing that. She’s the one who went shopping with Mom. Isis really doesn’t like being left alone anymore for some reason and so she kinda invited herself by jumping in Mom’s car again. Mom of course just let her go with her ’cause she was just going shopping and no where else, and Wal-Mart really doesn’t care when we bring our humans.

Mom came home from the seminar-thingy she wents to yesterday evening annnnnd she brought home foods from this place called Famous Dave’s that she didn’t finish eating. And There Was Chicken.

Mom did not share this chicken with us.

She did not share the rib either.

I was a little upset, but Mom gave us a treat after she’d finished eating her food and played with us then apologized for leaving us all alone yesterday. She didn’t get home ’till around 10pm and she left at 5am. She was gone a loooong time. We forgives her of course.

Well, Isis is still upset up about the no-chicken thing. Hehe, Isis loves her chicken.

Right now Mom is in the bathroom, putting on all that smelly stuff like her lotion and spray stuff and even teh new natural acne cleanser she’s using now. She’s kinda obsessed with her face for some reason. I dunno why, my Mom is pretty no matters what so I don’t understand the fuss.

She’s supposed to get home earlier today. I hope she does. Being cooped up with Isis all day is so not fun. I want to go outside and play! Be careful today Mom and have fun! And please hurry home so I can go outsides and play.

Oh, and some chicken would be nice too. Or tuna. Or milk.

Mommy woke up really early today too. She’s already filled our food and water dish for the day too. Denali thinks it’s too early to get up though and isn’t budging from the couch. Mommy had to wake up early because El Paso is about an hour’s drive away, she’s meeting up with Grandma who is driving, and Mommy had to get ready too. Since the seminar is supposed to run from 8am to 5pm today, Mommy is busy making sandwiches to take with her and putting chips in baggies too. I immediately jumped up on the table to give Mommy a hand.

First we had to clear the table off though because Mommy left all the mail scattered on it. But after that was done, she gave me some scritches and asked if I wanted to help. Of course I did! Mommy made me get off the table though, but I did get to be her offurcial food tester. The sliced ham and beef she used in her sub sandwich was delicious!

After Mommy finished making the food, she put it in her purse (it’s big, green, and black, I’ll have to take a picture of it sometime) and then put her stuff in the car. I don’t really want to stay alone all day in the house so I tried to convince Mommy to take me with her by hopping into my seat.

Sadly, Mommy said I couldn’t go and took me back into the house.

I hope my Mommy will be okay without me, sometimes she does silly things and if I’m not there to watch out for her, well who will? I am glad to see that Mommy isn’t taking that slimquick stuff anymore though. It was left her with an upset and queasy stomach. I wouldn’t want her to be stuck in a seminar all day feeling like that! She didn’t even have one of her slimfast drinks either. Instead Mommy had a piece of toast, a yogurt, and some fruit. Mommy still needs to finished getting ready though, and to straighten her hair; I think her curls look pretty, but Mommy prefers her hair straight and “manageable” when she has the time. Still though, Mommy is off to a good start today. I’m proud of you Mommy!

Apparently, at the last one she went to it was a business-related one and just a one-day thing. BUT the humans who went to that event got discounts and stuff for upcoming stuffs. Grandma has a few stocks and IRAs and other stuffs like that and those who went to the previous seminar got to attend this upcoming one about stocks and stuff at a reduced price. $99 versus like $1,000. Apparently there is this website provided by “Wealth Magazine” that makes managing stocks and stuff easier. Grandma really wanted to go, Mom could care less but since she’s a guest of Grandma’s she can go free.

I think Mom is also going to give these stock things a try too. *nods* She says she’d probably buy only a few shares of a stock or two though.

And no that makes no sense to me either. I’d have more luck understanding all those big words in a murad review then the stocks thingy. I do, however, understand that it is way to get money (that’s those green papers humans need to buy stuff). I understand that! But when I saw the “Stock Report” in the newspaper it just confused me. Too many numbers! And watching it on the tv was worse!

Anyway, Mom will be gone for most of Friday and Saturday and so Isis is already depressed. I can’t blame her. When Mom is gone we get locked in the house all day with nothing to do but sleep, eat, and play with our toys. Oh, and no one to play with but each other. And believe me, Isis is no fun to be around when she’s moody. It’s going to be a very long Friday and Saturday. Hmph!

I wish Mom was going to a more fun seminar like the BlogPaws 2010 Conference. It’s a conference for pet bloggers that is gonna take place on April 9th & 10th in Columbus, Ohio. Now that would be a fun conference to go to, right? Mom entered the sweepstakes to win a trip, and I hope she wins the grand prize, because then we could go. Is anybody reading this going to attend? If so, what are you and your humans looking forward to? For those not going, would you like to go and if yes, what would you like to see/do there?

Actually, even if Mom won, I dunno if Isis and me would gets to go. Mom is very, very terrified of pets flying on airlines. I know that some airlines lets humans keep a pet on the plane in their seat if they stay in their lap though. Mom would probably go that route, but then only one of us would get to go. I wonders who she’d take, me or Isis?
