One of Mom’s friends has been sending her wet seal coupons, and adverts for Xpress and Kohls and stuff lately, jokingly saying Mom could spend some of her new paycheck there. Didn’t understand what that meant when I saw it at first in Mom’s emails (ummm not that I read her emails or anything…) but now it makes sense. Mom is getting more hours so bigger paycheck.

Not that Mom would shop there anyway. Well, maybe Kohls, but not the other two. They don’t seem like her kind of place.

Mom may be putting in more hours durring the week… but now she has weekends off, she’s got benefits like dental and medical, she gets paid vacation time, more money for stuff for me, and weekends off! Why didn’t she do this sooner?

Congratulations Mom!

Ichigo has torn up the oven mits in the kitchen the other day. They were really nice thick ones, which The Old Man jokingly called wannabe-tillman gloves ’cause they were nice and thick and long. Ooh, was Mom pissed.

Then he broke three coffee mugs of Moms when he knocked down the drying rack. And that was just the stuff he’s done on Sunday. Oh yeah, he’s in teh dog house too.

I think Ichigo has chased Mom off too, ’cause today, she didn’t come home until late in the evening. I wonder what’s up with that.

But yeah, long story short, kitties are in trouble in this house. But, I think Mom is starting to cool down again. Plus, holidays were hectic too. That didn’t help Mom none neither.

But no, I was denied. She just stocked up on kitty food and got some more treats for us. In fact, the last time she went to the store I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Nothing new, no real “treat”, no splurge. Is my Mom silly or what?

Mom, it’s not like I was asking you to buy Golden Eagle gold bars or one of those really expensive cat houses that take up the whole backyard and have tons of rooms and tunnels for kitties to play in and doggies cannot get to ‘em what so ever. Although that would be nice. Hint, hint, hint.

But why didn’t she buy anything special for me or even herself? She even won a giftcard for Wal-Mart from the place she donates plasma to. Still hasn’t used it either. Is my Mom sick or all humans like this?

So Mom had an unexpected day off, which was nice. Especially since she’s got a cold. SHe spent the day resting mostly, read the paper in bed too and watched movies from Blockbuster. I was quick to cover up the newspaper when I saw ads in the classifieds for veterinary assistant jobs. Not that Mom would have been interested or anything, but anything that reminds her of the Vet has the chance to persuade her to take me to the vet for something. Mom has been worried about me since I lost a little weight and my furcoat is thinner. I chalk it up to Ichigo-induced-stress. Mom thinks I might be sick. So I was very quick to lay on the newspapper and distract her. It worked too! We then watched X-Men: First Class. I’m a smart and sly kitty.

So, yeah, no worrying about what kind of birthday treats for women would be good for my Human yet…but Christmas definitely. I’m thinking something yummy and tasty…but also something I’d eat too. You know, just in case she wants to share…or maybe she don’t like it but don’t want her gift to go to waste.

What did he do you asks? Well, Mom gets a lot of magazines. Some of which she did subscribe to, others that she never did but somehow gots on their list and continues to get issues of their stuff. Our neighbors probably think Mom spends a small fortune in magazines because of this. But in any case, she’s got a bunch. When she’s finished reading the ones that interest her (or she gets one of the many that she can’t fathom why she gets them) she stacks them in a big ‘ol pile in the storage closet that connects to the bathroom. When it’s gets high enough, she takes ‘em to be recycled.

Well, now courtesy of Ichigo, there are magazines all over the bathroom floor, the hallway, and the living room. None in the kitchen though, which is where I stayed when this started going down. He didn’t just spread the magazines out – oh no, he sliced them up, and shredded them. Mom had gone to the store and come back to find Ichigo starting in on the toilet paper. Mom was not amused.

Hallway looks very funny right now. Pictures of animals from the National Geographic magazines mixed up with human fashion from Marie Claire and Vogue. There’s even bits and pieces from some jewlery magazine (wedding bands for men!) along with Investment Advisor, and People.

Mom’s got quite the mess to clean and Ichigo is in deep doody.

What makes this worse is the heat isn’t on here ’cause well, it’s still been hot. So it’s kinda cold out, Mom had the cooler on earlier because it was stuffy and her nose was funny. But now it’s really cold in here and there are some leaks in the house too! Yup, bust out with the weather floor mats…or actually, buckets and towels, we’ve got three leaky spots in the roof!

And one of them was over my bed and it’s all wet now and even though Mom moved my bed it got wet, so I can’t lay in it, and the spot where my bed was at is taken by a bucket.

I asks you, is it too much to ask for a kitty to have a nice comfy house to nap in?

Mom stepped outside to smoke one of her smelly sticks. At least it wasn’t one of them swisher sweet cigars, or the other flavored ones she sometimes smokes. Those things are strong and the sweet scent of peach, strawberry, or cherry makes it worse on my kitty nose. This time though it was a cigarette, not quite as powerful.

Well, if I didn’t know Mom was stressed before, I do now. Dead giveaway Mom is stressing over something – she smokes.

At least Mom goes outside to do that stuff and she’s fixing to take a shower (silly humans gets soaking wet to get clean) so the smell won’t linger for much longer. Still, I don’t likes it when she does that.

Everything’s good, right?

WRONG!

Grandma’s clients are behind on payment so she barely had enough for some of her bigger bills. The cellphone bill Mom and Grandma split because they’re on a family plan to help save money between the two. Grandma went over the minutes again (which means she talks too much ) and she couldn’t pay her half plus the overage stuff right now, so Mom covered all of it. BAM! There goes all the extra money Mom just had.

So, Mom is making sure to donate to the vampires (they take her blood, she says plasma, whatever and they give her money) as often as she’s allowed to help build up a cushion because this payday she won’t get as much. She was sick remembers, plus there was a holiday so banks were closed too. I don’t think she’s bad off enough to get one of those payday advance loans you hears about all the time on TV and the radio, but if she does, I’m willing to let her sell my baby brother. Ichigo wouldn’t mind helping out either. He’ll volunTOLD to do it.

Sometimes she’d doze off, but that’s it. So Ichigo and I had to behave and try not to disturb her when she managed to nap for a bit. The tv got left on and it was on a boring channel that seemed to have nothing but infomercials, shopping shows, and commercials. The shopping shows were all boring. The infomercials were for boring or stupid stuff. And the commercials – nothing but drugs for this and that sickness, applying for title loans Utah and California (which is not where we live!), new cars, and some jewlery. I was ever so glad when Mom turned the tv off and got up to make another kettle of water for tea!

I wonder if Mom will stay home tomorrow too? Despite the droning and boring tv, it was nice having her here all day.
