It’s bad enough Ichigo hogs Mom all the time, weasels into my napping spots, tries to get me to play with him when I have much better things to do, and is just a general pain in the butt. A dirty messy one that can’t keep himself clean to boot! But today, today he crossed the line.

I caught a mouse. It was a hard one to catch, I spent hours staking out the kitchen trying to catch the little bugger. I had him cornered bunches of times, buts the little bugger kept slipping away. And then, finally, I got him and there was no where to run. The mouse was mine. I played with him for a bit, because hey, I worked hard for that mouse. Oh yeah, he suffered and regreted the day he thought to enter our home. And then, just when I was about to savor my kill….

Ichigo darts in, grabs my mouse, and runs away.

Now, I could respect him if he’d ate it. Stole my mouse and dared to eat it too, that would have taken some serious guts and I could have respected him for it. Been angry, yes, but he would have had my respect. But instead he let the mouse get away and then he just sat there and looked at it like he’d never seen a mouse before!!!

The mouse bopped him on the nose and he just let it go. What kind of kitten lets a mouse run away like that? I just, I cannot believe this guy. I don’t care what Mom says, there is no way such a horrible mouser is my baby brother.

Them mousetraps that Mom bought the other day were snapping like crazy Saturday night. Including the one I mentioned, Mom caught a total of FOUR MICE on Saturday alone.

So not cool. Especially because she only let me have one, the one I blogged about. The others she just disposed of. What a waste of food! The traps were sprung six times, only two got away so Mom’s odds of catching mice is actually better then mine. But I’ve still caught waaaaay more then she has, overtime, so I’m still Top Mouser. Ha!

And to prove to my Mom that I am just as capable as ever of catching mice I caught me one just a little while ago:

I can has treats now please?

Mom has started picking up these treats from the Dollar General regularly for me and they are sooooo yummy-nummy. I am seriously addicted to ‘em. Like maybe the should make a detox program for kitties for them like they does for oxycodone percocet addiction detox, except not because these are good and healthy for kitties.

I am of course talk about Purina’s Whisker Lickin’s Tender Moments. They’re soft and yummy and Mom gets the chicken flavor ones which are sooooo good.

I’ve taken to being an extra good kitty so that I can entice Mom to give ‘em to me more often. I usually get a couple when she comes home. It’s her way of saying sorry for keeping me locked up in teh house alls day.

So I was the uncontested Top Mouser of the house.

At least until Mom bought those mousetraps earlier today.

It was all quiet in the house. I was sleeping on the couch in the living room, Mom was in the bedroom playing with her virtual pet (I has one too!), when all of a suddens we hears a loud SNAP! I didn’t know what made the noise, but it certainly woke me up! Mom though, Mom had a good guess. She went running into the kitchen so fast she was like a blur. By the times I got there Mom was already tearing through the kitchen. It took me a minute, but eventually I realizes that she was checking the mousetraps. Sure enoughs, a trap had been triggered and a nice big mouse had been caught.

Mom was really happy and started doing her crazy victory dance. She then, after making sure the mouse was dead and not still alives, brought the trap to me and dropped the mouse at my feet. Then just stood there looking at me all proud and waiting for praise.

But wait, there’s something familiar about this scene….but not. Instead of the good kitty dutifully bringing her catch to her proud Mommy…my Mom brought her catch to me…

I guess Mom wanted in on the fun of catching mice too? Aww, but isn’t my Mom sweet? She gave me her catch! Well Mom, I will admit your mousetraps are clever, but you’ve got a ways to go before you can share my title of Top Mouser

Mmmm, yummy plump mouse at my feet with no effort. Hehe, htc bell tolls for thee mousey! I forgives you for replacing me with the mousetraps Mom and I am very proud of your mouse-catching skillz too. All in all, I’m counting this as a win for me. I catch mice, I get the thrill of the hunt and the taste of victory. Mom catches mice with her traps, I get a yummy fresh meal with no effort. Win Win Situation for me!

She’s always said I’m an awesome mouser, and whenever I catch one of the mice that can be found in our kitchen, I bring it to her and she’s happy as can be!

But today, when Mom got off from work she stopped at the Dollar General, and for once I was not pleased. See, whenever Mom stops at the D.G. it’s because of three things:

1. There’s something very important that she needs but didn’t have the time to get elsewhere, or she forgot. Like toilet paper.
2. She wants to stock up on snack food that she can take with her to work and eat on her breaks.
3. She’s getting treats for her (ice cream, candy, sweet tea) and me (kitty treats, toys)!

So, needless to say, when Mom walks in with a yellow DG bag I always greet her all happy. But today, today those lovely yellow bags were harbingers of bad news.

Mom has lost all faith in my abilities as a mouser and has resorted to getting mouse traps. As I type this, Mom has set traps in the lower cabinets and locked the doors so I can’t get in. I’m figuring she’s going to put more elsewhere too.

I know the mouse problem has gotten bad Mom; I’ve tried so hard to catch ‘em all! I got two just last week even! This past week I only got one. We can’t even figure out why it’s gotten so bad here lately either. They were gone, and I only managed to find mice outside, but now they’re back inside and there’s a bunch of ‘em.

I think Mom got really really mad with ‘em though whens they got into her ramen. She was not a happy Mommy that day.

Still though, is that any reason to fire me? Now I’ll have to go and catch a bunch of those pesky mice to prove to Mom I’m still a very capable mouser. In the mean time though, I’m just going to go hide behind that big box of riding helmets and old riding clothes in the storage closet and mope. There’s a nice comfy pile of old clothes there with my name on it and right now I just want to hide and cry. I’ve been replaced by mousetraps!

Well, it’s not a good one for Mom, but I think it’s kinda cool.

You see, when Mom was a little kid (wow that must have been a looooong time ago! ) there was a basement in this old house. Well, since it’s so small and was used to store preserves and wine back in the day when not even Grandma was born, maybe it’s more of a cellar…? Buts anyway, there was a basement at one point and Mom used to like playing down there. Mom’s Great-Grandma would store preserves down there and other stuff, but one day she fell and hurt her hip while picking fruit off the membrillo trees, and she couldn’t walk very well after that and had to use a walker to gets around. She was stubborn like my Mom is (maybe more?) and refused to let people do things for her just ’cause she didn’t have the same mobility she used to though!

The end result? Since she lived on her own and refused to have someone living with her and taking care of her, the basement was sealed so that she wouldn’t need to go down there to clean or store stuff anymore and there’d be one less risk for her.

Flash forward like twenty years and Mom and I are living here now and there’s a bit of a mouse problem. I’ve been trying to catch ‘em all but it’s tough work for one kitty. Especially when Mom gets mad at me for hopping on the stove or counter and stuff. Some of the tile is cracking and needs to be replaced and one of spots happens to be where the door in the floor (that sounds funny) to the basement is. The tile is that cheap kind that is thin and comes in a roll that is easy to lay, so Mom isn’t surprised it needs replacing. It’s one of many things she’s gonna get around to eventually. Mom spilled the pan of water she had used to clean rice in and it spread all over the floor, including to where the new cracks are. Before she could mops it up, the water by the new cracks just soaked into the floor like it was dry ground outside.

We were suspicious, very suspicious. I thought I founds a new adventure, Mom thought she smelled something funny. We were both rights! Mom mopped up the rest of the water then started feeling around on the floor with this funny knife that has a switch and I sometimes see her use to cut boxes with. I couldn’t figure out why was slicing a square into our floor until all of a sudden did something funny and up comes the floor!

Apparently the basement wasn’t filled in likes we were all told and Mom’s great aunt and great uncle just sorta sealed the door down. Mom sees what you lazy humans did there! Some of the door had cracked from too much weight being on it and broken away, which is how the water fell down into the basement. And when Mom and I looked down we saw a few preserve jars that had, had stuff in ‘em and been knocked down, lots of cobwebs and dust, and some mice. I HAZ FOUNDS YOU, YOU MICEZ!!!!

There are some mold spots too, but they’re small Mom is going to go down there tomorrow in the daylight and clean like crazy so that she doesn’t have to shell out money she don’t have for a basement dehumidifier to combat mold in the future.

Mom is ticked though. Her Great Aunt and Uncle said it was filled in proper but it never was and so a table with appliances has been standing partly on that spot and people have sat in chairs over that spot for all these years putting weight there and it could have givens out any time. She’s especially mad ’cause if it had happened while her Great Grandmother was still alive, well, she would have been really hurt. And Mom is already not very happy with them these past couple of years ’cause of many things. Methinks I don’t wanna be around when Mom talks to ‘em about this.

I’m excited though ’cause this means a new room to explore for me and better hunting grounds while inside the house!!

See, I thought I was hungry so I went hunting in the field and found me a mouse. But I wasn’t as hungry as I thoughts I was so I left it to the side in case I wanted to come back for it. Though I figures the little insects would get it first too be honest. Mouse just doesn’t taste as good when it’s leftovers. Like cold chicken from the fridge. Not as yummy.

Well, since Mom found it she’s been making funny faces at me and frowning a lot. She keeps it up and she’ll need to invest in that smelly white stuff humans call “wrinkle cream” before she’s actually, you know, an old human.

Still don’t get why she’s upset though. I should be upset really. She threw away my leftovers without even asking me if I still wanted them. How ruuude!

See, I was feeling kinda hungry this morning but I didn’t want kitty food. I wanted something nice and fresh so I went outside and sure enough, breakfast had already been delivered. Good thing too, ’cause it was around 5am and mom does not like getting up at this hour.

A succulent, plump field mouse, served just the way I like it. Frightened and ready to run but with no where to go. I loves playing with my food (yes I know, good kitties don’t play with their food) and it always makes the food taste that much better. Toss ‘em in the air, let them run then pounce – it’s all good. It’s especially fun when they really think they’ve escaped and then you go NOT!

Breakfast is served! Yummy! Scared plump mouse, let’s do breakfast.

I’m just stopping in real fast ta show ya’all some of my gifts. Well, really, my favorites of the loot.

I got this really nice jacket and both Isis and I got a stuffed mouse to play with. I think we’re supposed to share it, and I will, for a few days. I also got some other stuff as well, but this is my favorites. I gots some kitty treats, one of mom’s friends gave me a voucher for a pet store too. But I can’t play with paper, so until mom shows me what it’s really for, it’s not on the faves list. I think everyone thinks I like to eat ’cause just about everyone got me food of some sort. Even Isis got me a treat bag. It has cat treats, a small bag of catnip, and an itty bitty little mouse.

Mommy bought me this really sleek dress jacket. It’s so cool looking and I look so suave in it. Not to mention, it’s black and not the least bit girly like the things Isis wears. Total luv! If mommy would always buy me clothes like this then I’d wear them more.

Even the Old Man liked it, he thought I looked so cool with it. I’ve been sure to show it to everyone!

I have to go now, mommy is taking teh turkey out of the oven now! Yeah, we having turkey this year ’cause mom won a turkey for turkey day from work and grandma had already bought one too. Lots of turkey to eat! Not that I minds of course!

Ah, and don’t worry, I’m sure Isis will be by later to blog about her stuffs too. Teh Clothes Cat cannot resist showing off her clothes, and she made out like a cat burglar today too.
